Healthy and Colourful Vegan Smoothies for Optimal Pregnancy Health!

Smoothies are a tasty and convenient way to enjoy the fruits and veggies a growing baby needs to thrive. Today, we are going to share some quick and easy smoothie recipes you can incorporate into your daily life that will provide you - and baby - with those important nutrients you both need.

Carrot Citrus Boost

This tasty blend of fruit and veggie juices will give you an awesome dose of Vitamin C, Beta Carotine, and protein (if you use the dairy-free yogurt). It's refreshing, tasty and healthy all at once. This is one your queasy stomach will most likely be able to tolerate with no problems at all!

Ingredients:

3/4 cup fresh carrot juice

1 tsp fresh squeezed lemon juice

1/2 cup dairy-free coconut yogurt OR lemon sorbet, if desired

8 ice cubes

How To:

Blend together until smooth. Sip, and enjoy.

Ginger Mango Tango

This takes your average smoothie from blah to yum in 20 seconds flat! The combination of nausea killing ginger mixed with the sweetness of mango and tangy goodness of the yogurt make this smoothie an awesome, tasty option for breakfast for that needed boost to start the day!

1 cup mango chunks, frozen or fresh (if fresh is used, you will need to add 8 or so ice cubes)

1/3 cup dairy-free yogurt

1/4 cup orange juice (no sugar added juice)

4 pieces crystallized ginger, can be bought online or at natural food stores

1-2 fresh mint leaves

1/2 cup cold water

How To:

Add to a blender and blend until smooth. Pour and enjoy!


Bananarama Peachy Dream

This blend is oh-so-good, uber creamy and hits the spot when you want something sweet but without the guilt and shame of empty calories! Bananas are an awesome addition to any pregnant mama’s diet. Banana’s are packed full of folate, an essential vitamin to the healthy development of baby’s brain and spinal cord! Lets get blending!

Ingredients:

1/2 cup dairy free vanilla frozen yogurt OR  frozen banana, blended (omit the medium banana if you choose this option)

1 small-medium banana, peeled and sliced

1/2 cup soy milk

1/2 cup fresh peach juice (freshly squeezed in a juicer is best)

5 ice cubes

How to:

Blend until it's smooth and creamy, and then indulge!
